School Headphone Care Instructions

school headphone care instructions

When you purchase school headphones, we know that everyone needs to get the most out of every pair and maximize the life cycle. This is a big challenge with essential headphones, but there are steps you can take to help prevent accidental damage or breakage. We created these care instructions as a general guideline. Be sure to follow all manufactures recommendations. These school headphone care instructions will help you get the most out of every pair of school headphones, school earbuds, or school headset with microphone in your classroom.

Do not wrap the cord around school headphones

  • To help prevent loss of sound, never wrap the cord around the headphones. Doing so could increase the risk of damage to the internal wires. As a result, you could end up with speakers that will not work or produce sound. Instead, consider rolling it in a circle and using a tie for the cord.
  • You might consider getting durable storage bags for each of your headphones, so the cable and the plug are less prone to accidental damage.
  • There are cord wraps available online that work well, but they are easily lost, which is something to consider if you decide to go this route.
  • It is always helpful to give students an understanding of how important it is to be delicate with the cord and connector, and it is usually the first thing to get damaged so remember not to wrap the cords around the headphones.

Cleaning School Headphones

Use a damp disinfecting cloth to clean the headset. Never spray liquid directly onto the headphone or submerge in water or liquid. The warranty will not cover water or liquid damage. Keeping food and beverage away from school headphones can help reduce the risk of submersion or exposure to liquid. We also have sanitizing products available. Select age-appropriate headphones

School Headphones may contain small parts and not recommended for use by children under three years of age. We support school headphones for students in 5th grade and up. In our experience, we have found that earbuds don’t always provide an excellent fit for younger students. They also tend to be more susceptible to accidental cord and connector damage.

  • School Earbuds and School Headphones are both recommended for 5th graders and above. If you ever have a question about what model is right for you, our team is ready to help. Contact us for specific school headphone recommendations.
  • Store school headphones with care. This one seems obvious, we know. But it can never hurt to remind students of the importance of taking care of school headphones. Shortages can be frustrating and create challenges.
  • To learn more, we asked some teachers what ideas they might have to make it more fun. Several teachers we asked decided to make creative games, and fun activities where they would create and devise a list with critical points students should always remember when using and wearing the school headphones.

    School Headphone Storage

    • Hard cases are sturdy, the most durable solution that can help keep them organized, and prevent accidental damage when headphones are not in use. They make it simple and easy to store and transport, and you can add an optional lock for enhanced security. Hard cases are the most popular because they offer the most protection and can be stacked, which is excellent for larger learning environments and settings.

    • Soft cases help keep all the headphones together and organized. They make it easier to store and transport from class to class. We have a variety of cases available. Another easy solution is to re-purpose an old backpack combined with plastic storage bags. This is an effective way to reduce the number of cases of accidental damage and loss. Keeping school headphones and school headsets organized and safely stored when they are not in use does go a long way at helping you get the most out of every pair.

    • As we previously mentioned above, we also recommend putting each school headphones, school earbud, and school headset with a mic in a plastic bag at a minimum when it is not in use. Storage is key to reduce accidental damage and exposure to breakage. They can also minimize the potential spread of lice. Lice are not able to survive off the head for more than two days. Seal the school headphones in a bag for two days. Any lice on them will die. If you encounter a lice outbreak, consider using labels with dates saying “do not use until (date)” on the bag. This will help to ensure everyone knows not to use them until the desired time.

    • Creating a list with your specific best practices and sharing them with students on this subject before first use may help reduce student exposure to lice from another student using the same headphones.
    • Encourage students often to treat all the school headphones with care. Consider creating a fun activity that gets students involved. Generate your own best practices with students specific to your classroom, library, computer lab, or learning environment.
